Anglican Church Cricket Festival (ACCF)

This year (2019) was the second time St. James the Apostle participated at the ACCF event. The purpose of the festival being to “Promote Christian Fellowship Outreach through Cricket.” Initially the festival started out with only two churches from the Brampton area participating, but now it has graduated to ten teams from all over the Peel Region.

This year, matches were played in Brampton at Creditview and Sandalwood sporting fields, with an opening ceremony attended by Bishop Jenny Andison and the Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. There are special rules for the tournament that require each team to field two ladies and a youth. St. James had three ladies and one youth on our team this year. Although we only won one of our four matches, it was a great day for players and a group of noisy St. James spectators alike. Perhaps our most outstanding claim was that we sported colourful uniforms and caps for both players and spectators, arranged by the team captain Lucky Liyange.

A big thank you to John Pasquill, our team coordinator, and to all those members who participated, players and spectators.
