New to St. James

About St. James the Apostle

Parishioners greet one another after servicesSt. James the Apostle Anglican Church is a diverse parish located in the heart of Peel Village in Brampton, where as Christians, we are united in our efforts to love God and to love our neighbours. We come together for worship on Sundays and Wednesdays, but we also do our best to live our faith by serving the community, and caring for those in need. There are opportunities at St. James to learn more about Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian in the world today. And there are opportunities to participate in the many different services and activities that we have through the seasons of the year. From enjoying church services to serving the spiritual and physical needs of our community, to developing new friendships, there are many ways to grow closer to God at St. James the Apostle, Brampton.

Our Sunday Services

If you come to one of Sunday services, whether you are used to the Anglican liturgy or come from another tradition, it always helps to know something of the practices of a new place. At St. James the Apostle, we worship according to the Anglican tradition, using a leaflet and two books. Most of what you need to follow the services is contained in the leaflet (or bulletin) that you will be given by one of the sidespeople as you come into the church. If it is not found in the leaflet, the page number will be indicated in the leaflet and will be announced by the celebrant.

At St. James, we use the Anglican Church of Canada’s Book of Alternative Services (known as “the green book”) and the hymn book called Common Praise (know as “the blue book”).

On Sunday mornings we have services of Holy Communion (Holy Eucharist) at 8:30 am and at 10:00 am. We also have a service of Holy Communion on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am.
